The Indian Army organised a Medical and Veterinary Camp at Kibithu in Arunachal Pradesh on Thursday, marking the first of three such camps being held as part of the 63rd Walong Day Commemoration. The initiative seeks to deliver essential healthcare and veterinary services to residents of remote border villages while reinforcing the enduring bond between the Armed Forces and local communities.
The camp received an overwhelming response from villagers of Kibithu and neighbouring areas. Army doctors and veterinary specialists offered free medical consultations, distributed medicines, and provided animal healthcare services, addressing critical needs in this isolated border region where medical facilities are scarce.

“This medical camp demonstrates our unwavering commitment to the welfare of border communities living in challenging environments. We are privileged to serve those whose ancestors stood alongside our soldiers during the 1962 conflict,” an Army doctor said.
The camp is part of an extensive community engagement programme leading up to the principal Walong Day Commemoration on November 16-17. This annual event pays tribute to the extraordinary valour of Indian soldiers during the Battle of Walong in 1962, when heavily outnumbered forces heroically resisted Chinese advancement for nearly a month.

Villagers expressed deep appreciation for the Army’s healthcare efforts. The remaining two camps will be conducted at Walong and Hayuliang in the coming days, extending healthcare coverage to more remote border populations.
