A seemingly philosophical “Thought of the Day” shared by Assam Cabinet Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah on Facebook on Tuesday has set political circles abuzz, with many attempting to decode the message behind the carefully worded post.
The Minister’s post stressed that the interests of the State must always be placed above individual ambitions, personal interests and short-term considerations. While the message did not mention any individual or incident, its timing has fuelled widespread speculation.
Political observers believe the remarks may have been directed at certain groups and individuals who allegedly created unrest on the streets of Guwahati on June 18, an episode that was subsequently linked in public discourse to the cancellation of the proposed Japan Prime Minister visit to Assam.
Although no direct connection has been established and the Minister himself offered no clarification, many view the post as a subtle reminder that governance, development and Assam’s larger interests should not be compromised by individual agendas or political theatrics.
